Meet the instructors of HMB MMA!
Head Instructor Black Belt Raul Castillo has been practicing martial arts since the age of four. Achieving the rank of Black Belt at the age of eleven, under George Marenco in the style of Kami-Do-Ryu, Raul later went on to once again acheive the rank of Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of twenty-two under Joao Pierini. Holding over fourty titles in competitive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling along with a professional fight record of 3 wins and 0 loses, and through his school, Raul devotes his mind body and soul to the way that is martial arts.
Instructor Blue Belt Charlene Coats has spent most of her life practicing martial arts. Also orginating under the instruction of George Marenco in the style of Kami-Do-Ryu, Charlene acheived the rank of Black Belt at the age of 14, and later went on to earn her second degree at the age of 16. 1999 Golden State Karate Association World Champion, Charlene Coats, later went on to study Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the intruction of Raul Castillo. Training little under a year and currently holding seven Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu titles, Charlene was promoted to Blue Belt first degree and continues to make full use of her close attention to detail specializing in women's self defense.
Instructor Purple Belt Adam Piccolotti has been grappling (wrestling) since the age of ten. Founding his grappling experience in the MPA Legue in middle school and continuing in the Pacific Athletic Legue in high school, Piccolotti then qualified for the California National Wrestling Team at the age of sixteen after taking 3rd place at the Greco Roman State Championships. At the age of seventeen Piccolotti began cross training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Joao Pierini and continues today under Raul Castillo. Currently holding four Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu titles from 2007 alone, Piccolotti is one of the most technically dominant athletes in California.
